We have four teams that are in for June 1 (Oyster River, Timberlane, Nashua North, and Hanover), and one probable (PEA) so far, so the date is officially changed.

We are working on re-confirming the Exeter High School fields for that date.  If you have backup suggestions, please contact me.

Seacoast Ultimate Summer Youth League and Clinic -- registration is open!

We’re gearing up for our second year, with a little more structure this time.  For the league, we will have 2 age groups, ages 9-11 and ages 12-13.

The clinic is Sunday, May 18, 1-3 pm at Community Campus in Portsmouth. There is an adult clinic at the same time in the same place – parents highly encouraged to come try it out, too!
Link to clinic registration (free): http://www.seacoastult.org/e/2014-youth-ultimate-clinic
(Clinic is free – if you register, it will help us with planning).

The league runs on Wednesday evenings at Cooperative Middle School in Stratham starting June 4 (8 weeks).  No experience (or clinic participation) necessary.  There is also an adult learning league at the same time – again, parents encouraged to play!
Link to league registration ($37, includes disc, shirt, and 8 sessions of coaching): http://www.seacoastult.org/e/2014-youth-ultimate-learning-league
There is a limit of 25 players per age group, and we expect both groups to fill quickly.

HS Tournament Registration is up and running

Our tournament page is active, so you can start registering and rostering your players.  Link to our specific page: http://play.usaultimate.org/events/New-Hampshire-State-High-School-Tournament/

Instructions from Ryan Gorman at USAU are below.  Let him or me know if you have any problems registering. (He will probably be more help.) Please note that we'd like to have teams in the system by April 18.

From Ryan (ryan@hq.usaultimate.org): "The steps that the teams will need to take are to create their team and register for the event. The sooner we get this taken care of, the sooner we can move on to reviewing rosters for the event (which will undoubtedly take some back-and-forth with the teams). Can we try to have the list of teams registered in the system finalized by Friday, 4/18? I'm happy to help with whatever communication you need to get to the teams to make this happen. Here are the most important things that you can communicate to your teams right away.

1.     Individual memberships and waivers should be renewed. All of this can be done online here. If anyone needs help accessing their accounts, I'm happy to help.
2.     Teams need to be created in the new system. The current team list is here. Instructions on how to create teams that are not already listed can be found here.
3.     Once teams are created, they should register for your tournaments and start working on event rosters. Instructions for this step are here.
 "

Two final notes regarding chaperones: Seacoast Ultimate has generously offered to reimburse chaperones for background checks.  Please forward your emailed receipt and PayPal account info to John Stone (jwstone1962@gmail.com).  **And start the background check ASAP.**

That's it for now.

Cumberland Middle School Invitational on May 3: NH teams invited

This sounds like fun -- anyone want to put a middle school team together?

From Gregg Novick (gnovick@storm-crete.com)
We are hosting a MS tournament (Cumberland Middle School Invitational) on Saturday, May 3rd in Cumberland, ME and would like to extend an invitation to NH Ultimate (either a school team(s) or a combo team is fine).  It looks like we have 8 teams from 6 schools attending so far.  There are no A/B teams – all equal  and I doubt we will actually have a winner (except for Spirit award) – just games….

Hope you can make it!!!   www.cumberlandultimate.com

First NH State High School Tournament set!

The tournament is coming together!

First, I’d like to welcome aboard Jeff Kies, our Tournament Director.  Jeff is a biology teacher at Exeter High School, and a Seacoast Ultimate veteran.  Thanks for helping with our inaugural tournament, Jeff!  We will have a lot of volunteers helping out as well; more info on this to come.

Now a bunch of details (Link with lots of useful info: http://www.usaultimate.org/youth/guidelines.aspx):

1.      Tournament date: Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Exeter High School in Exeter, exact times to be determined, but count on a full day.  We’re working on a possible rain date.

2.      Rostering: I have submitted the sanctioning application to USAUltimate, and when it is approved, I will set up the online rostering page on the USAUltimate website, and then coaches can start entering their rosters.  This should happen within a week or two, and I will let you know when our page is live.  Here’s more info on rostering:

3.      Player eligibility and requirements (all ideally completed by Wednesday, April 30):
b.      Players will need to either have a current USAU membership or pay the one-time event fee of $7.25.
c.       Players and guardians will also need to complete a Minor Waiver and Medical Authorization.
d.      Gender mix: Our tournament will be Open (girls and boys), but technically the division is now called “Boys”.  We’re psyched for as many girls as we can get, and during games, teams should try to match gender ratios as appropriate.

4.      Chaperones: Each team needs one, and he/she must have a USAU account (though a current USAU membership is not required) and complete a background check.  The cost of the background check is $21.50, and it is good for two years. Please start this process ASAP, as it can take a few weeks. Here’s the link with chaperone requirements (which contains link to background check):

5.      Fee per team:  Once we get a sense of how many teams will be participating, I will let you know what the fee will be.  We will keep it as low as possible.

6.      New teams welcome!  Know any other teams or schools thinking about putting together a team?  Please forward this link, and send me contact info (marybd48@gmail.com).
