First NH State High School Tournament set!

The tournament is coming together!

First, I’d like to welcome aboard Jeff Kies, our Tournament Director.  Jeff is a biology teacher at Exeter High School, and a Seacoast Ultimate veteran.  Thanks for helping with our inaugural tournament, Jeff!  We will have a lot of volunteers helping out as well; more info on this to come.

Now a bunch of details (Link with lots of useful info: http://www.usaultimate.org/youth/guidelines.aspx):

1.      Tournament date: Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Exeter High School in Exeter, exact times to be determined, but count on a full day.  We’re working on a possible rain date.

2.      Rostering: I have submitted the sanctioning application to USAUltimate, and when it is approved, I will set up the online rostering page on the USAUltimate website, and then coaches can start entering their rosters.  This should happen within a week or two, and I will let you know when our page is live.  Here’s more info on rostering:

3.      Player eligibility and requirements (all ideally completed by Wednesday, April 30):
b.      Players will need to either have a current USAU membership or pay the one-time event fee of $7.25.
c.       Players and guardians will also need to complete a Minor Waiver and Medical Authorization.
d.      Gender mix: Our tournament will be Open (girls and boys), but technically the division is now called “Boys”.  We’re psyched for as many girls as we can get, and during games, teams should try to match gender ratios as appropriate.

4.      Chaperones: Each team needs one, and he/she must have a USAU account (though a current USAU membership is not required) and complete a background check.  The cost of the background check is $21.50, and it is good for two years. Please start this process ASAP, as it can take a few weeks. Here’s the link with chaperone requirements (which contains link to background check):

5.      Fee per team:  Once we get a sense of how many teams will be participating, I will let you know what the fee will be.  We will keep it as low as possible.

6.      New teams welcome!  Know any other teams or schools thinking about putting together a team?  Please forward this link, and send me contact info (marybd48@gmail.com).
